Blythe, CA!

My best friend and I have been attached at the hip for nearly 10 years. We have grown up through high school, college and beyond. Typically we try to do a trip together each year, and this year we wanted to celebrate our 10 years. We decided to head out to Disneyland for their 60th Diamond Celebration, followed by bike rides and a trip to the beach.
We headed out after work on Thursday and drove over to Anaheim. Most people who travel between Phoenix and Anaheim tend to stop around Quartzite, Blythe or Indio. We already know my strong views of Indio. I’ll save Quartzite for another time.
Not wanting to veer too far off the freeway, we stopped at the Chevron off the Lovekin exit.

This was a rather unique one. The bathroom for this stop were actually in a separate building.

As a short female with the relative strength of a gerbil, I’m not entirely comfortable of walking away from the gas station (which, you know, always has a person in it) across part of the parking lot in order to get to the pretty-dimly lit exterior of the building bathroom.

Upon entering the bathroom, I did understand the concept of the extra building. This was significantly larger than most gas station bathrooms. It fit three regular stalls plus one accessible.

The stock seemed pretty good, although the toilet seat covers were a bit disheveled. One of the toilets had some backup of toilet paper and seat cover.

There were no mirrors in the entire bathroom, and the hand dryers were pretty low-pressure.

It’s clean enough to use the bathroom, but they may want to upgrade either their mop or the actual cleaner they use for the floor.

So – Let’s Break It Down
Cleanliness
3/5 Clean enough to be useable, but did have a stall I didn’t want to go in
Smell
2.5/5 Middle of the road. Nothing great, nothing terrible
Stock
4/5 Appeared adequate, but items were in disarray
Space
4/5 Really great in size
Lighting
2/5 Very well light inside, but I did not like how dark the exterior is
Environment
3/5 Again, the inside was fine. I hated having to walk across a dim parking lot
'Wow' Factor
2/5 Nothing particularly wow-worthy, but the separate bathroom building was interesting.
So out of the potential 35 total, the Chevron in Blythe’s women’s restroom came in at a decent-for-rest stop 20.5. I would make Blythe one of my go-to stops, but I think if I travel through there more, I may want to check out other options.
