I originally had no intention of doing a review on this establishment, but I found myself in need of a bathroom and wasn’t quite sure where else to go. That’s exactly why I started this blog – to help people try to figure out where to go if they’re not quite sure.
It began innocently enough with trying to exercise and be healthy. I’m training for a half marathon in May. While on my Sunday run on April 10, it started to POUR. I’m an Arizona baby, so I’m not quite used to it. I ran for a bit towards home and had to stop to get some relief from the cold rain. I saw a Safeway, so I figured I could seek some haven from the storm there for a bit.

I entered the store and seriously contemplated coffee before I realized that I only had my ID on me – no cash or cards. Since I was there anyway, I figured I could go check out the bathroom.
This one is a single-occupant. Unfortunately there’s nothing to indicate whether it is occupied or not. So I knocked and didn’t hear anything, crossing my fingers as I opened the door. All clear.
And large.

This is one of the larger single-occupant bathrooms I’ve seen. I’ve actually seen bathrooms this size have two stalls instead. But I won’t judge. The bigger, the better.
The bathroom itself had a slight smell to it, but certainly nothing bad.
It does have a changing station, for any mothers (or fathers) who need a bathroom for that purpose {I don’t know if there was a changing station in the Men’s room or not. But if your kid needs changed and it’s a single occupancy bathroom anyway, why not?)

There was a little table for you to set your groceries or other bags down while in the facility, which I thought was a nice inclusion.

Unfortunately it wasn’t stocked super well. It seemed fine on towels and toilet paper, but unfortunately when I got there, they were all out of seat protectors. Big bummer, and not very sanitary.

When you go to wash your hands, you do actually have to turn the facets on, but they do provide a choice for either drying your hands with a hand towel or with a hand dryer.

Otherwise there was not much else to take note of. They did post signage mainly for their employees, but mainly the bathroom is just there to serve its purpose.
So – Let’s Break It Down
Cleanliness
4/5 Nothing looked visibly dirty, but nothing appeared sparkling clean either.
Smell
3/5 There was a slightly bad smell, but nothing overpowering.
Stock
2/5 They were completely out of the toilet seat protectors.
Space
4/5 Pretty large inside – great for anyone who needs to change a baby, or for accessibility purposes.
Lighting
4/5 Pretty well-lit
Environment
3/5 Nothing shattering about the environment. It felt comfortable, and like what a standard bathroom ought to be.
'Wow' Factor
2/5 No wow-factor here – be it good or bad.
So out of the potential 35 total, Safeway on 48th Street’s women’s restroom came in at 22. The bathroom overall serves its purpose and generally is clean and good for its practical use. It does appear open to the public (I wasn’t able to buy anything, but I was okay to pop in to the bathroom at the front of the store)
