What the heck is The Bathroom Blog??

The biggest question with the onset of any blog is - WHY. Why does the blog exist, and what purpose does it serve?

The answer is simple - This blog is dedicated to Porcelain Throne.

Bathrooms serve an important basic purpose for all people fortunate enough to have one available.

Given bacteria and hazardous byproducts involved in utilizing facilities, it's important to talk about cleanliness. We deserve a clean bathroom and, if we have a choice, let's choose one that's clean.

While cleanliness is most important, let's also talk about comfort and ambiance. There's a reason that bathrooms play an important factor in selling homes on the market.

If we can choose which 'facility' to use, we are most likely to choose the one that is not only clean, but also looks pretty cool.

If Yelp can help us choose which restaurant to try or which dry cleaner to use, The Bathroom Blog can help determine which public restrooms are best for use - or even for just visiting!

We Ask Again - WHY?

Obviously if nature is calling - you've got to use whatever is available.

But if we have the choice, let's make sure we are treating ourselves to the shiniest Porcelain Throne.

I hope the restrooms featured in here will help give insight on where to stop in if you are on a road trip, need to use the facilities while out for a run, or deciding if you should just wait until you get home!

The Breakdown

Right now, it's just little 'ol me working on this blog. Entries will be limited to areas where I am most likely to go. This includes the Phoenix-Metro part of Arizona, and any places I happen to pop in to on my road trips (I usually hit the road at least once a month). I try to keep my locations varied so I can gather more entries.

If you ever think there's a particular bathroom I should check out within Phoenix, please use the "Contact Me" button to drop me a line. I welcome all submission!

PLEASE NOTE: I am a female. You'll find that all my initial submission are for Women's bathrooms (until I'm able to get submissions from male users!)

The Rules

Privacy is the MOST important part of this blog.

I do NOT take pictures of bathrooms that have occupants in them. Does it mean I miss a lot of opportunities to grab pictures for reviews? You bet.

But I will NEVER take photos when people are in the bathrooms. That is an invasion of privacy (and just creepy)

All bathrooms will be reviewed on the following:

• Cleanliness (Again, Sanitation is most important)

• Smell (Yes, it can vary depending on...most recent use. But a big factor on bathroom experience)

• Stock (Are they running out of TP or toilet seat covers? How about soap or towels -if applicable-?)

• Space

• Lighting

• Environment

• 'Wow' Factor (You'd be surprised. Some bathrooms have truly unique features)

All categories will go on a 1 to 5 scale, "1" being least satisfactory and "5" being WOW

I will post as many photos as I'm able to capture - again, honoring my privacy rules - for each posting and identify the establishment and general location.

Other online review websites exist - why can't I make mine?
